Facebook and Instagram experienced widespread outages for the second time in just one week.
According to Downdetector, which monitors the status of some of the world’s most visited websites, there have been 36,000 reports of bugs. Instagram Around 7:30pm UK time.
More than half (58 per cent) had something to do with the app while 23 per cent had to do with server connectivity issues.
It also appears that Facebook and Facebook Messenger are down for some users as 765 and 954 reports were received by Downdetector respectively.
Up to 60 percent of Facebook reports relate to location access issues while 24 percent relate to the app.
It doesn’t appear that there are currently as many WhatsApp users who are experiencing issues as there are with Facebook and Instagram, but reports have risen in the past hour to 141.
The Twitter hashtag #Instagramisdown is already making the rounds on the platform, which on Monday became a springboard for people when all the other major social platforms went down.
Facebook issued a statement that said: « We understand that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience. »
