Lotto players were asked to check their numbers after it was revealed which province sold their €1m winning Friday ticket.
The Daily Millions lucky slip was sold out at Co Westmeath earlier this week.
The winning numbers were 05, 06, 14, 15, 19 and 23 and the reward was 25.
A Lotto spokesperson said: « The Daily Million player at Westmeath was the start of the weekend when he became the county’s new millionaire.
“We will reveal the location of the winning store in the coming days and, in the meantime, advise the winning ticket holder to sign the back of his ticket and keep it in a safe place.
“They should contact our prize claims team at 1800666222 or email [email protected] and arrangements will be made for them to claim their prize.”
Lotto chiefs announced the big win as they urged players to buy tickets early ahead of tonight’s draw.
The jackpot, which has been rolling for weeks, was set at 19,060,800 euros.
This means that lottery players will see a boost to the lower prize category.
With a jackpot cap set, the money that would normally be added to the jackpot will continue to flow to the next prize category where there is a winner.
Meanwhile, Lotto players will get bigger prizes for playing in tonight’s draw as the National Lottery has confirmed it will add an additional €1 million to the Lotto Plus Raffle prize fund.
