Castlebar may have retained its title as one of the county’s luckiest spots after the National Lottery revealed that a €19.06 million lotto jackpot ticket sold out in May.
The National Lottery confirmed this morning that the lotto jackpot ticket from the Saturday Night Draw has been sold out at Castle Bar on Ko Mayo.
The lucky Castlebar player made history by becoming the biggest Lotto jackpot winner in the game’s history.
However, the National Lottery also said it was still waiting to hear the winner and urged players in May to check their tickets.
The jackpot has been in play since June 9 with a total of 62 matches without a winner. As a result, an outright winner of Saturday night’s raffle was guaranteed.
Prior to that, Castlebar, which has a population of more than 12,000, took home three grand prizes totaling €61 million in six years starting in 2020.
In February 2020, Castlebar celebrated its third jackpot win at the EuroMillions as it was revealed that Mulroy’s Londis had sold the winning ticket for the massive €17 million EuroMillions jackpot.
The first jackpot for Castlebar EuroMillions was won in April 2014 when a prize of €15 million was claimed on a ticket sold out in May.
A spokesperson for the National Lottery described Saturday night’s lotto draw as an « incredibly exciting event » that saw players in every county in Ireland win big in the lottery.
“We urge all of our players who attended from the Saturday Night Draw to check their tickets carefully and if you are one of the big winners you should contact the Prize Claims Team at 1800666222 or made in order to pay your prize.”
The winning numbers for Saturday 15 January 2022 were: 02, 09, 16, 30, 37, 40 and the reward was 23.
Details of the winning store will be officially revealed on Wednesday morning.
