Shoppers will be keen to hit the supermarket today to pick up a few last-minute treats for ringing in the new year.
People have been asked not to mix with other families in the new year due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.
Many people are still planning to celebrate the New Year from the comfort of their homes.
Supermarkets across Dublin have reduced their opening hours over the coming days, so it’s good to know what to expect if you have to go out today or tomorrow.
Here are the New Years opening hours shoppers can expect from the nation’s largest supermarkets including Dunnes Stores, Aldi, Lidl, Tesco and SuperValu.
Dennis Stores
Dunnes will close its stores early on New Year’s Eve, but will reopen on New Year’s Day with reduced hours.
New Year’s Eve, Friday December 31 – 8am to 7pm
New Year’s Day, Saturday January 1 – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Regular business hours will return on Monday, January 3rd.
Aldi
Aldi will remain open on New Year’s Eve until 7pm and then not open on New Year’s Day.
New Year’s Eve, Friday December 31 – 9am to 7pm
New Year’s Day, Saturday 1 January – Closed
Sunday January 2 – 9am to 9pm
Lidl
Lidl stores will close an hour before Aldi at 6pm. It will remain closed on New Years Day.
New Year’s Eve, Friday December 31 – 8am to 6pm
New Year’s Day, Saturday 1 January – Closed
Sunday January 2 – 9am to 9pm
Tesco
Tesco opening hours during the New Year period vary by store.
Many of their stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. tonight and will operate at the same or similar hours on New Year’s Day.
Monday January 3rd will see the return of normal business hours.
SUPERVALUE
Similar to Tesco, individual SuperValu stores operate at different hours. Check the SuperValu website for your local store opening hours.
