No attendance clinics for children over 12 years old will open this weekend

Children between the ages of 12 and 15 will be able to get vaccinated against Covid-19 at mobile vaccination centers this weekend.

Children in this age group will be able to receive a Covid injection at one of the clinics spread across the country if they attend the facility with a parent or guardian.

It is the first time that centers have been opened for this age group. Anyone 16 years of age or older can go to a clinic on their own.

The centers will be open to anyone who needs either the first or second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The no-appointment facilities have proven very popular, with thousands of people receiving vaccinations at the centers since they were set up less than a month ago.

The Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines are available in clinics.

People attending a second Pfizer vaccine must have received their first Pfizer vaccine at least 21 days in advance.

Those attending a second dose of Moderna must have received their first Moderna vaccine at least 28 days prior.

A person is fully vaccinated about seven days after the second dose of Pfizer and about 14 days after the second dose of Moderna.

People who go to clinics will need:

• Personal Public Service (PPS) number – if you have one
• Ircode
• mobile Number
• E-mail address
• ID card with your date of birth – this can be a passport, driver’s license, Garda age card, or school ID

Anyone who has already registered will only need a photo ID showing their date of birth.
