One or more National Lottery players will win the current record-breaking jackpot of €19 million in a guaranteed « to win » event to be held on Saturday.
The head of the Irish Lottery, which administers the National Lottery, last month called for the « must-have » raffle after more than 50 times the prizes moved into the raffle. The unprecedented streak continued into the new year. The jackpot has not been won on 62 consecutive occasions.
A spokesperson for the National Lottery said: « We know that most of our lottery players would like to win the jackpot of €19 million, so we are pleased to be able to make this announcement. »
If the grand prize is not won on a Saturday, the full value of the grand prize will flow to the winner(s) in the next winning prize category.
The spokesperson added: “While this current lotto jackpot pass is truly unprecedented, and has generated a lot of excitement and involvement in the lotto game, the National Lottery is now pleased to announce that a ‘to be won’ event will take place.
In addition, the National Lottery will run the same ‘to be won’ event from now on, with lotto prizes guaranteed to be won by no more than five draws after the limit is reached.
